New Shopping Center by Chamberlain & McCreery to Serve Berryhill neighborhood.

By Kathy Martin

Instead of building a bunch of homes and leaving the neighborhood, Chamberlain & McCreery, Inc. builds homes and then builds the neighborhood services to complement the community. The Berryhill Shopping Center is a prime example. After building 400 homes within a three-quarter-mile radius, 250 in Windchase of Berryhill and 150 in Summerfields of Berryhill, Chamberlain and McCreery is building a shopping center to serve those residents.

When Berryhill Shopping Center is completed early next month, nearby residents can avoid high-traffic roads that turn a simple drive to pick up dry cleaning or a pizza into an hour-long excursion. Plans call for a dry cleaners, a Subway Sandwiches & Salads restaurant, a pizza place, a nail salon and other convenient products and services. The 17,000-square-foot shopping center, which is located near Cordova High School at Berryhill and Chimneyrock Road, targets the neighborhood of about 1,000 homes within a quarter mile. “This shopping center brings services to the neighborhood so that they don’t have to bother getting onto Germantown Parkway,” says Jon McCreery, partner and head of commercial development of Chamberlain & McCreery, Inc.

Chamberlain & McCreery is the fourth largest residential builder in Memphis. In addition, the company constructs about $25 million in commercial real estate property each year.
