What do I need to do before construction can start on my new home?
First you need a contract signed by both parties. Next, you should secure loan approval with the lender of your choice. Last you should meet with decorators at Home Concepts to make all all of your selections for your new home.
 
 
How long will it take you to build my new home?
It takes Chamberlain & McCreery approximately 120 to build your new home, weather permitting.
 
 
Can I make changes to your floor plans?
You may make minor changes to floor plans. We give you many options with the homes so that you may choose what will best suit your needs. You should check with your project coordinator to ensure that minor changes you select do not conflict with bearing walls and structure.

We have numerous floor plans with different front elevation options that can be built in various neighborhoods. Please view our floor plans.
 
 
Are all floor plans available in all neighborhoods?
Covenants and restrictions as well as lot size in neighborhoods plays a role as to what plans can and can not be built in the neighborhood.
 
 
Will you build a home for me if I have my own land?
Yes we will build a custom home for you on your own land as long as we are able to provide the ultimate customer service. As long as your land is within our building geographical location we would be happy to build you a new home.
 
 
What is Dimensional Shingle Roofing?
Dimensional Shingle Roofing serves many purposes for the home. It has a 30 year warranty versus a 20 year warranty, it is more wind resistant due to the weight of the shingle, its architectural shape provides a cleaner look and it is algae resistant which stops the streak like stains on the roof.
 
 
How many HVAC units are installed in your homes?
HVAC units are installed to suffice the square footage requirements needed to heat and cool your home properly.
 
 
What size water tanks are installed in your homes?
The size and type of water tank (gas or electric) depends on the subdivision specifications and standard amenities.
 
 
What is Hardie Plank Siding?
Hardie Plank Siding is a cement based siding that prevents mildew and rot and it also inhibits termite infestation. It is already primed and it comes in textured or smooth finishes.
 
 
Why do homes in Tennessee and Mississippi not have basements?
Homes in Tennessee and Mississippi do not have basements due to the soil content. The flat terrain is not conducive for basements.
 
 
What is OSB?
OSB is the exterior sheathing that is applied before the brick and it helps prevent moisture from entering the walls of your new home.
 
 
How do I get pre-qualified?

What do I need to do before construction can start on my new home?

How and when do I get to pick out my selections?
When you have a purchase agreement signed and accepted by both parties Home Concepts Design Center, 901-794-2156 or email designcenter@cmhomes.com, will contact you to set up an appointment with our decorator to make all the selections for your new home. This process takes on average one to four hours to complete. The actual time depends on the stage of your home and the selections that you choose.
 
 
What do I get to pick out in the Home Concepts Design Center?
If your new home is a presale you can pick out everything from rook, brick, and mortar all the way to carpet, tile and cabinets. Home Concepts is a one stop shop design center with everything under one roof. If your purchase your new home during the construction process you will need to contact your agent and see what can be changed or selected.
 
 
How do I purchase upgrades in Home Concepts Design Center?
You are welcome to purchase upgrades from our design at a minimum cost of 50% down. You can roll the other 50% of the cost into your mortgage.
 
 
What is a Pre-Sheetrock Orientation (PSO)?
You will meet your builder and real estate agent at your new home before drywall and insulation is installed. At this time, you will be oriented with your home and locations of important outlets, wires and pipes. There will be a basic discussion of how the major components in your home function, such as heating, cooling and plumbing. The builder will also be available to answer any questions you may have.
 
 
What is a Homeowner Orientation?
This orientation has two purposes. The first is to demonstrate the features of your home, and to discuss maintenance and our warranty program. Second, we want to demonstrate that we have delivered your new home at the quality level shown in our model homes and with all your selections correctly installed.
 
 
What about closing costs?
Closings costs usually range from 3 to 5 percent of the loan. Please consult your mortgage lender.
 
 
What type of warranty does Chamberlain & McCreery provide?
